Violin & Viola Lessons in Chipping Sodbury, South Gloucestershire. Bath, Bristol and Gloucestershire

In addition to my career as a professional freelance violinist, I am also much in demand as a professional, experienced and dynamic teacher. With over 10 years experience teaching privately and in numerous schools, I have taught over 500 people aged 4 to 70 since I began my career in 2000. I have taught everyone from total beginners to those preparing for Diplomas and entry to University and Music Colleges. Many of my pupils work towards ABRSM music exams, and achieve very successful results.

I participate in regular Continuing Professional Development training sessions, my teaching has recently been judged 'Outstanding' based on the OFSTED/FMS assessment criteria for the second year running, and I hold CRB Full Disclosure certificates clearing me to work with children and vulnerable people. These are available to view upon request.

I run a busy private teaching practice in Chipping Sodbury. Most pupils come to my home for lessons, although lessons may be able to take place in the student's home by negotiation. Please contact me for further details.

In addition to my private teaching practice, I currently hold the following teaching posts:

Violin/Viola Teacher, Strings Tutor and Chamber Music Tutor -
St Marys School, Calne

One of the UK's leading independent girls' boarding schools. I teache all the school's violin and viola students in individual 35-minute lessons. I have set up and now coach three chamber ensembles, including a String Quartet which has represented the School at GSA functions in London and Bristol, and for external private bookings. I direct the String Sinfonia (senior string ensemble), tutor the string sections of the Symphony Orchestra, and established Sinfonietta for the younger, less experienced musicians in 2011. I have prepared girls for scholarship auditions, local festival performances, and competitions. Sarah participates in most school concerts, and have helped to run workshop days for visiting Prep School pupils, at Open Days and numerous school functions.

Associate Music Teacher -
South Gloucestershire Music and Arts Service

I teach individual and group violin lessons in local Primary and Secondary Schools in Yate and Chipping Sodbury. I prepare pupils for school performances, workshops, and music exams where appropriate. In 2008 I co-founded the South Gloucestershire Youth Orchestra, of which I was associate conductor, administrator, and upper strings tutor 2008-2012. The SGYO performed at least three concerts each year, held 'Repertoire' Days for prospective members, and performed by invitation at local music festivals. The Orchestra participated annually at the Music for Youth Regional Festival, and in 2011 was selected to perform at the MFY National Festival in Symphony Hall, Birmingham.

Co-Director: South Cotswold Youth Orchestra -
Thornbury Area Music Trust

Since 2012 I have co-directed this thriving Youth Orchestra for the finest young musicians in South Gloucestershire.
